In 2013, a successful Christian businessman of Jaco, named Daniel Wells, was concerned by the lack of opportunities for the women of Costa Rica. He then founded “Asociation Pro Oportunidades Para Las Mujeres En Riesgo Social Del Pacific Central” in English as “Costa Rica Women’s Charitable Association”. It started with a simple concept that people can make a huge impact in women’s lives, so that they are able to provide for their children. He has supported and assisted a woman with the creation of her own business. Today that business is a successful service business in Jaco. Seeing the impact of this success story, he wanted to do more and founded the non-profit to assist other women with their dreams of independence. He has been fortunate enough to help several other women in an undesireable situations get started in their own business.
